Residential Lighting

These wall mounted lumineers contain halogen lamps.  The fixture can be manipulate in any direction.  Incredibly bright to look - alot of glare - and the fixture can reach almost extreme temperatures

Illumination of the stairs. Recessed fixture with a small halogen lamp. Lamp itself is exposed - not that attractive. Does effectively illuminate the stair, and is more effective than overhead lighting. However when they aren't in use, the fixture is rather unattractive and does stand out.

Same lumineers and lamps as in the kitchen. The same scalloping effect, but perhaps this application it is more successful. Creates a bit of drama, could be used to highlight a feature of the room, e.g. a sculpture.

Another pendant fixture, also contains a halogen lamp. These are a good source of general illumination, but are let down by the shadows they cast on the ceiling.
Pendant lights with a small halogen lamp - possibly from the  'T' series. These lights are more effect as they're closer to the working surface. Simple glass shade.
Recessed spot lights, approximately 100mm, directional. Halogen lamps. Very bright and creating strong scallop effect on walls. Lights are located in a kitchen in a double height ceiling. They're very glarey to look at but the amount of light that actually falling on the bench below is a little dim. The bench is light in colour and therefore  reflective which help improve the situation, but it seems the best point of light is higher rather than at a hight where you're working.

Light from the fish tank. Very cool fluorescent lamp. Gives off a blueish glow.
The fishys like it :)
Overall the lighting in the space is rather ineffective. It lights the ceiling well, but work surfaces are slightly under-lit. More task lighting would really help.

Hunters & Collectors - 134 Cuba Street

'B' shape lamps. Look incandescent
Warm colour to lamps
Fixture very decorative
Fixture reflects the warm glow of the lamps
The application of this particular light is more for the visual appeal rather than specific lighting. It would add to the general illumination of the store, but is more to attract you up to the second floor and to creating some visual stimulus.

These fluorescents are located at the rear of the shop in the store room. Not the most attractive but as it's a store room the fixture doesn't need to be that great. As they're out of sight it's a good opportunity to save on running costs.
The lamp itself is completely exposed.
Very bright, almost too hard to look directly at. Perhaps should have something to cover the lamp.
Very white in colour - covers the room with a harsh light.
Not all areas are lit evenly - some real areas of shadow are visible in the storeroom.

I think the idea behind this lighting is a good one but the way it's been executed isn't that great. The exposed fluorescent lamps are way too harsh for the space. I think uplighting the features of the ceiling is gorgeous but better done with a different lamp and fixture.
Continuous hidden cove lighting?

Pendent lights. Contain incandescent lamps. Add to general illumination. Also give more illumination to items below them.

Example of lighting in signage. Small incandescent lamps.
